Custom Artwork Upload Terms & Conditions
Custom Artwork Upload Terms and Conditions (UK)
These terms apply to all custom and made to order printing services provided by House of Blanks, including but not limited to UV DTF, DTF, eco solvent, sublimation, laser, and other print processes. By uploading artwork, placing an order, approving a proof, or otherwise instructing us to proceed, you agree to be bound by these terms.
1. Definitions
Customer means the person or entity placing the order. Artwork means any file, image, design, text, logo, photograph, or other material submitted by or on behalf of the Customer. Mock up means any visual representation we supply to show approximate placement, scale, colours, size or layout. Proof means the final approval asset confirming content, placement, and scale. Bespoke Goods means goods produced to the Customer’s specification or clearly personalised.
2. Scope and priority
2.1 These terms govern all Bespoke Goods created from Customer Artwork. Any conflicting terms proposed by the Customer will not apply unless agreed in writing by a director of House of Blanks.
2.2 If there is any conflict between a Proof and these terms, the Proof controls for the aspects shown on the Proof. In all other respects, these terms apply.
3. Contract formation
3.1 A binding contract forms when we accept your order in writing, take payment, or begin production, whichever occurs first.
3.2 Turnaround times are estimates and begin only after we have both cleared payment and received all required approvals, files, and instructions.
4. Customer responsibilities for files and uploads
4.1 You are solely responsible for the content, accuracy, resolution, and formatting of the Artwork you upload.
4.2 We will print at the size uploaded. If you upload at a given pixel dimension, we will scale only as instructed by you, or as shown on an approved Proof or Mock up. Any unintended scaling results from files you provide will be treated as Customer error.
4.3 We will print at the quality uploaded. Images that are soft, pixelated, compressed, or low resolution will print that way. We do not enhance or repair Artwork unless you purchase a design service.
4.4 We will print as per the last approved Proof and the imagery approved. Approval is a final sign off. Changes after approval may incur fees and may reset lead times.
4.5 We will print as per the Mock ups shown where no Proof is supplied and you have expressly confirmed that the Mock up can be used as the basis for production.
4.6 We are not responsible for incorrect uploads, incorrect sizes, incorrect colours, spelling errors, missing bleed, incorrect cut lines, incorrect transparency, or any other errors present in the Artwork as supplied by you.
4.7 File formats and colour. Unless stated otherwise, supply PNG for UV DTF and DTF, vector PDF or AI for cut paths and decals, and high quality JPEG or TIFF for raster prints. Supply colours in CMYK where possible. Conversions between RGB, CMYK, and printer profiles can cause colour shift. Pantone matching is not guaranteed without a paid colour matching service. 4.8 Bleed and safe areas. Provide at least 3 mm bleed for cut to shape items and keep critical content at least 3 mm inside the trim. For tiny decals and micro detail, minimum stroke weight and spacing limits apply. Items outside process limits may fill, close up, or fail. 4.9 White ink and underbase. For UV DTF you must provide a transparent background where you expect clear areas. We will generate white underbase based on industry standard settings unless you supply a dedicated white layer and instruct us to use it. 4.10 Cut lines. If you require contour cutting, you must provide a single closed vector path labelled clearly as a cut line or purchase our set up service. We may simplify paths that are too complex to cut reliably. 4.11 Variable data. If you upload variable names, numbers, or other data, you are responsible for correctness and formatting. We do not validate spelling or logic.
5. Approvals, Proofs, and Mock ups
5.1 Where we supply a Proof or Mock up, you must check content, spelling, colours, scale, and placement with care. Your approval confirms that the artwork, layout, and scale are correct and suitable for production.
5.2 Approvals freeze the design. After approval, changes are treated as a new order or chargeable change request.
5.3 Where no Proof is provided, your uploaded Artwork and written instructions are deemed accurate and final.
6. Printing standards and reasonable variations
6.1 Colour and appearance can vary between screens, batches, materials, inks, and print processes. A reasonable tolerance in colour, density, and finish is inherent. Exact colour matching is not guaranteed unless we have confirmed a paid colour match service with a physical standard.
6.2 Size and position tolerances apply. Minor movement during printing, laminating, or cutting can occur. A tolerance of plus or minus 2 mm is considered acceptable for most items, and plus or minus 5 mm for large format.
6.3 Material characteristics. Adhesion, flexibility, and durability depend on the substrate and use case. Customer testing is required for unusual surfaces, extreme temperatures, dishwashers, washing machines, or outdoor exposure. Washing and application instructions must be followed.
6.4 Process artefacts. For UV DTF a fine halo may be visible at the edge where white meets clear. For DTF a slight hand feel is expected. Banding can occur in large flat tints. Such artefacts within industry norms are not defects.
7. Reprints, corrections, and what counts as our error
7.1 We will repair, reprint, or credit at our discretion where a proven manufacturing defect or our error is present. Examples include wrong file used by us, incorrect quantity, incorrect item, or a material fault.
7.2 Customer errors are not eligible for refund or free reprint. This includes low resolution uploads, incorrect sizes, spelling mistakes, wrong colour choice, missing bleed, incorrect cut lines, or approval of an incorrect Proof.
7.3 Claims procedure. Notify us in writing with clear photographs within 7 days of delivery and before items are used, installed, laundered, or resold. Keep all packaging. We may request return of samples for inspection.
8. Cancellations and returns for Bespoke Goods
8.1 Bespoke Goods are made to order and are not returnable or cancellable once production has started, except where required by law.
8.2 As we are a Business to Business supplier, statutory consumer cancellation rights do not apply. If you are a consumer and Bespoke Goods are clearly personalised, the usual right to cancel does not apply.
9. Intellectual property and content rules
9.1 You warrant that you own, or have all necessary rights and permissions to use, reproduce, and authorise us to print the Artwork, including third party logos, photographs, fonts, and character art.
9.2 You must not submit Artwork that infringes copyright, trade marks, design rights, moral rights, or other intellectual property or privacy rights. You must not submit defamatory, obscene, hateful, or unlawful content. We may refuse any order that in our opinion breaches these standards or damages our reputation.
9.3 Licence to print. You grant us a non exclusive, royalty free licence to use, copy, modify for production, and print the Artwork solely to fulfil your order and to store files for a reasonable period for reorders and audit.
9.4 Marketing samples. We will not use your Artwork in our marketing without your permission, except to the extent necessary to show production examples with identifying details removed.
9.5 Indemnity. You will indemnify us against all claims, losses, and costs arising from any allegation that the Artwork or your instructions infringe rights or breach law.
10. Data protection
10.1 Where Artwork contains personal data, you act as the controller and we act as the processor in respect of the processing we carry out to provide the services.
10.2 We will process personal data only on your documented instructions, keep it secure, restrict access to personnel who need to know, and delete or return it on request unless we are required to retain it by law.
10.3 You warrant that you have a lawful basis to process the personal data you supply to us, and that you have provided all necessary information to data subjects.
10.4 We may use sub processors for hosting, proofing, or production. We remain responsible for their performance and will ensure appropriate contractual safeguards.
11. Materials, application, and care
11.1 It is your responsibility to confirm suitability for your substrate and use case. Trial application is recommended for unusual materials or finishes. We do not warrant adhesion or durability where surfaces are contaminated, textured, coated, or unsuitable, or where care instructions are not followed.
11.2 Care guidance for garments and drinkware will be provided on request. Failure to follow care instructions voids any remedy for wear or damage after use.
12. Pricing, taxes, and payment
12.1 Prices exclude VAT unless stated otherwise. Quotes are valid for 14 days unless withdrawn in writing.
12.2 We may charge for file checks, edits, colour matching, proofs, artwork, and expedited services.
12.3 Payment terms are as stated on invoice. We may suspend work or delivery for late or failed payment. Title to goods passes only on receipt of cleared funds. Risk passes on delivery.
13. Delivery and risk
13.1 Delivery dates are estimates. We are not liable for delays caused by carriers, customs, weather, shortage of materials, power or system failure, or other events beyond our control.
13.2 Please inspect parcels on receipt. Mark the carrier’s receipt as damaged if packaging is visibly compromised.
14. Liability
14.1 Nothing limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
14.2 Subject to clause 14.1, we exclude all implied terms to the fullest extent permitted by law and will not be liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of goodwill, or any indirect or consequential loss.
14.3 Our total liability arising out of or in connection with an order will not exceed the price paid for the order concerned.
15. Force majeure
We are not liable for delay or failure caused by events beyond our reasonable control. We will notify you and take reasonable steps to mitigate.
16. Third party rights
A person who is not a party to the contract has no rights under the Contracts Rights of Third Parties Act 1999 to enforce any term of these terms.
17. Variation and waiver
We may update these terms at any time. The version in force at the time of your order applies to that order. A failure to enforce any term is not a waiver.
18. Severance
If any term is held invalid or unenforceable, the remainder will continue in full force and effect. The invalid term will be replaced by a valid term that most closely reflects the original intent.
19. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms, and any dispute arising out of them, are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
20. Helpful technical guidance
20.1 Recommended resolution at final print size is 300 dpi for small items and no less than 150 dpi for large format viewed at distance.
20.2 Convert text to outlines or supply fonts. Embed images. Remove hidden layers or unused elements.
20.3 Name files clearly to avoid confusion. For multiple versions, supply a manifest.
20.4 If you require colour critical work, purchase a press proof or sample print. Without this, production tolerances apply as set out above.
21. Returns and refunds summary
Bespoke Goods are not eligible for return or refund where the issue arises from Customer error or reasonable production variations. Where a proven manufacturing defect exists, our remedy is limited to repair, reprint, or credit at our discretion.
22. Contact
